| Reiki What is Reiki? Reiki (ray-key) is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. Comprised of two Japanese syllables Rei meaning “Free Passage” or “Transcendental Spirit” and Ki meaning “Vital Life Force” or “Universal Life Energy”, Reiki utilizes positive energy from an attuned practitioner to a receiver. There are 3 levels of Reiki, Level 1, Level 2 and Master/Teacher. How is Reiki performed? Reiki “energy” is passed on from an attuned Reiki Master/Teacher. Once attuned, the practitioner or Master/Teacher (depending on level of certification), is able to send Reiki energy to a receiver (person, animal, situation, plant, home etc.) for the receiver’s well-being. This can be accomplished as a “lying on of the hands” where the practitioner places her/his hands on different locations of the receiver as relates to the Chakras. These positions are held for 2-5 minutes while energy is passed. For those who are not comfortable with the hands on approach, the practitioner can hold their hands just off the body, but within the field of the receiver’s aura to pass energy through. Some feel this is the better technique as the energy is treating the aura before reaching the body. Illness exists in the aura before it enters the physical body. Reiki can also be done distantly – either from the same location or from a completely different location. What is the aura? The aura is a field of changing energy fields that surround the body (and all living things). The aura is composed of many layers, ending approximately 4 to 5 feet from the body. The layers represent the living things consciousness. The aura is created by thoughts, feelings and energies flowing through the physical body. Some feel that the original cause of health or illness is in the aura. What are Charkas? Chakras are transformers of subtle energy. There are seven main Chakras that represent specific aspects of our consciousness and physical body. Each has their own functions and characteristics. Your mind, body and spirit interact throughout the Chakras. Occasionally these energy centers need to be cleared. This can be done through routine Charka clearing, as well as a regular schedule of Meditation. |
