I have always loved dogs - they are the animal that speaks to my soul.
We were not allowed to have a dog until my mom bought a home when I was 16. I have not been without one since.
In 1995, I discovered all-breed dog clubs, dog shows, and the limited number of competitive events available at the time, and my entire world changed. I joined a local club and became the training director when I realized the average dog owner deserved so much more than they were being offered. In 1997, my dog training business was born (formerly known as Happy Tails To You).
Combining my love for dogs with my experience teaching, I created classes designed to educate owners on not only what to do, but why. I asked them to think outside their viewpoint and to see things from the dog's perspective so they could guide them to the answers they wanted and the behaviors they needed from them.
During my early years, I invested in any education options I could find with leading dog trainer experts. I eventually found the Companion Animal Science Institute, from which I received my 18-month diploma in Canine Behavior Science & Technology. From there, I continued my education, becoming a Canine Fitness and Nutrition Specialist, and a Certified Canine Strength and Conditioning Coach, and continue my education annually. As of this writing, I am working on becoming a Certified Clinical Animal Nutritionist.
Today I am so blessed to have purchased a lovely facility that allows me to offer 10 or more group classes per week, fitness and conditioning services, including my canine swim spa, help people train their own service dogs, and so much more.
My goal continues to be to offer dog owners the highest quality dog training options that educate and inspire.
I am internationally recognized as a trainer of quality and integrity and have helped budding trainers learn about the science needed for them to be successful in their own dog businesses. I have had people travel from all over the US and abroad to work with me.
I am also an author, receiving a nomination for a Dog Writer's Association of America award for an article in the Aussie Journal. I have been published in breed newsletters/magazines and local publications, and authored a book, Family Companion Dog ~ An Owner's Guide to Relationship Centered Leadership, which can be found on Amazon (or purchased at my training center).
I have earned over 300 titles and awards with my dogs in most every dog sport that exists, with 152 of them earned with one dog - Defiance Are You Sirius, "Sirius" - the true face of Pawsitively Unleashed! She taught me the most about the importance of building a strong foundation and partnership with my dog to succeed in all we try.
My students are out earning titles in multiple sports as well, and I cheer them on for all their successes and feel deeply the lessons to be found when things don't go as planned.
I will help you achieve your goals, whether they be to earn titles and top scores or to simply have the best companion animal on the planet. I will be there to support you and answer your questions, hear your concerns, and find the answers you seek.
